Team Rector

This job has now expired

Could you be called to be Team Rector of the new West Sevenoaks Team Ministry? The current Team Vicar positions at the other two churches are also vacant, providing an exciting opportunity to develop a brand new Team Ministry.

The Team Rector will be based at Kippington, close to the town of Sevenoaks.

On 1 December 2019 the new West Sevenoaks Team Ministry was established, uniting the benefice of St Mary's Kippington, the benefice of Riverhead with Dunton Green, and the benefice of St Luke's, Sevenoaks.

We are looking forward to developing a combined vision for the new Team Ministry as a whole; however each of the three churches brings its own vision into the mix. They are very much complementary to each other, and can be seen in each of the three individual Parish Profiles. We look to the new Team Rector to help us draw these together for a combined vision for the Team.

In our preparation for the new Team Ministry we see real opportunities in cooperation, particularly in the following areas:

  • More proactive care of the vulnerable and elderly- including ensuring some services are dementia friendly, with potential for a dementia cafe.
  • Baptism/ marriage preparation.

  • Joint home groups - bible study, prayers, Alpha courses, Lent groups.
  • Creating an appealing and sustainable provision for young people.
  • Potential for a youth worker to work across all three parishes.

  • Evangelism.
  • Outward communication with a combined voice.
  • Sharing opportunities to do outreach and pool resources to run events.
  • Working with local charities and organisations.

  • Sharing services to augment the types of services available.
  • Expansion of church music groups.

Joint working

  • Combining administrative tasks.
  • Potential for a combined web site.

We are praying for a Team Rector who will:

  • Be energetic and committed to leading and guiding us as we enter into the new Team Ministry.
  • Be sensitive to the traditions of the three churches and willing to acquaint themselves with the three parishes.
  • Mould a strong and united team, with a common vision, which can reach out and share the love of God with the community around us, sharing skills and opportunities in key areas such as outreach, youth work and support for the elderly.
  • Demonstrate patience, tenacity and compassion in moving us forward in unity and love.
  • Be prayerful, bible and Christ-centred.
