Wonderful walks from your doorstep await our new TEAM RECTOR DESIGNATE including the Chiltern beech woods, the Ridgeway and the Grand Union Canal paths.  Excellent trains to Milton Keynes, London, Birmingham and elsewhere and excellent schools at all levels.  Theatre and sport too are in the mix.

Be our spiritual leader and we will help you to build the benefice ministry team.

You will be the welcoming face of our community, a representative that celebrates the richness of our traditions, at the same time bringing a new and innovative energy.

You will regularly be travelling locally through the stunning Buckinghamshire countryside to visit the 7 parishes and 8 churches under your care, working closely with a team you recruit yourself, and with a committed network of volunteers based in idyllic villages, some of them award-winning in their beauty! Your mission is to build the diversity of an already thriving community, creating events and programmes that will enthuse new people of all ages to worship. You will be the welcoming face of our community, a representative that celebrates the richness of our traditions, at the same time bringing a new and innovative energy, committed to both demonstrating and advocating the joy and inclusion of our collective church family. You will be financially literate and an excellent communicator, with an understanding of how to create opportunities to maximise the potential that our remarkable historic churches and the communities that surround them present, both financial and socially.

  • To develop and implement innovative ways of attracting non churchgoers into the Kingdom of God
  • To encourage a variety of services and activities without losing the best of the traditional
  • To harness the enthusiasm of the seven parishes for working together to become a more effective Team
  • To make each church community a happy and welcoming place where we can grow in the knowledge and love of God
  • To ensure the best possible coverage for services and pastoral care enabling, wherever possible, each of the eight villages to have a service every Sunday
  • To build lay involvement in traditional clergy roles (pastoral care and leading worship)
  • To be the visible presence of the church in our villages
  • Actively wants to build the Kingdom of God through collaborative ministry
  • Has leadership, communication and management skills, including ability to motivate, inspire and coordinate members of the team and volunteers
  • Has ability to identify and respond to opportunities for mission
  • Will enjoy and embrace village life and will develop the relationship between the Church and the whole community
  • Will be flexible, imaginative and capable of challenging our thinking, whilst being sensitive to established local traditions
  • The Cottesloe Team consists of even rural parishes and eight churches on eastern edge of Buckinghamshire and of the Oxford Diocese; brought together as single Cottesloe Team in 2012
