Can you record and edit broadcast quality audio output to be used across a range of national Church campaigns? If so, we are recruiting for an exciting new role in the Church of England’s Publishing and Digital Teams. This has been created to build on the success of high-quality audio output developed for Christmas, Lent and at other key moments of the year.

Working across Church House Publishing and the Digital Team, you will build on several early trials with audio. You will be responsible for accelerating and embedding this work.

The Digital Team that has led on transforming the Church’s national websites that now receive 45 million page views per year and part of the this role is continuing to provide professional content for these platforms. You will also lead on creating content for integrated campaigns at Christmas, Lent and other key periods that engage millions; along with helping to provide digital resources that enable thousands of churches to get the most from the web and social media.

The Role

  • Ownership of the Church House Westminster studio and broadcast suite and the booking process.
  • Responsible for recording and editing broadcast quality audio output to be used across a range of Church campaigns, including Christmas, Lent and other major Christian festivals. You will oversee this process from start to finish using industry standard hardware and software.
  • Identify opportunities for the Church to expand the reach of its audio output across new and emerging platforms as well as potentials partnerships with national broadcasters such as the BBC.
  • Evaluate the impact and reach of audio and creative content recorded so that we keep improving our output.
  • Helping to identify where content produced is best placed to maximise reach and engagement.
  • Providing audio expertise to the Digital Team and Church House Publishing.
  • Bring Church House Publishing printed and digital materials to life through audio.
  • Providing on location audio recording capability, particularly for Christmas filming projects.

Staff Management and Supervision

  • No line management though you may be required to manage external agencies, contractors and freelancers.

The Requirements



  • Prior experience running recording studios and managing voiceover artists.
  • Professional audio mixing and using sound effects.
  • A good knowledge of audio interfaces and hardware.
  • Ability to use industry standard software such as Pro Tools and Adobe Audition.
  • A solid understanding of working in a digital environment.
  • Strong project management and organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a small core team, and as part of a wider team during certain events.
  • Ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
  • Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office and other industry standard applications.
  • An awareness and understanding of the Christian faith.


  • Comfortable and confident promoting the Church of England.
  • Build consensus and positive relationships within and across teams.
  • Flexible approach to office life (particularly over the structure of the working day).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.


  • Some travel across England may be required.



  • Experience working with agencies and freelancers.
  • Experience of taking projects from concept through to delivery.
