The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department is responsible for provisioning and maintaining the IT systems and equipment for the London Diocesan Fund.

(LDF), the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), and the episcopal area offices of the bishops and archdeacons of the London diocese. The department is responsible for delivering the IT strategy and vision in the organisation. Secure systems and working practices are developed and promoted to ensure security of organisational data.

To assist the ICT Support team in all aspects of maintaining and providing ICT services to the Diocese of London.

The primary role will be to provide first line user support for staff of the diocese, including senior clergy members. This includes responding to service and technical issues, as well as general enquiries.

The job is primarily based in Pimlico, London but will include travel to other sites in North and West London. You will work closely with the other team members and although most of the focus will be around support services, you will be expected to understand and participate in the implementation, documentation and maintaining of services and providing colleagues with an excellent user experience. You will also be involved in organisation wide projects and events. Some occasional out of hours working may be required.

  • Provide first line helpdesk support for users. Including diagnosing hardware, software, audio visual, photocopier and IP telephone related issues.
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance and repair of PCs, laptops and audio-visual equipment.
  • Install and configure software applications.
  • Help produce and maintain IT documentation as necessary.
  • Carry out user IT inductions and other training. To champion the use of ICT services to users.
  • Reactively and proactively visit remote area office sites to ensure high quality service and support to users.
  • Help maintain appropriate stock levels of computer consumables and accessories using agreed procedures. To arrange secure disposal of old equipment.
  • Proactively implement the organisation‚Äôs policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with ICT development projects.

The postholder may be required to undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the role.



  • Current version of Windows Desktop operating systems
  • Setup of PC, Laptop, Printers and other branch equipment
  • Setup of Audio Visual equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)
  • Basic networking
  • Setup of user accounts in Microsoft Active Directory


  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach



  • Experience of Microsoft Windows Server, VMware virtual servers
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration, Sharepoint administration
  • Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone experience
