Safe Spaces Implementation and Contract Manager

To support the phased implementation of Safe Spaces across England and Wales by acting as a key link person for the Church with the new Provider in respect of the operational roll out and contract monitoring of the service.

The main responsibilities for this role are;

  • Mediation of any operational issues in respect of referrals to and from the service that are unable to be resolved by the respective dioceses/cathedral with the Provider for Safe Spaces
  • Provision of a contract monitoring function for both churches to ensure compliance to the contract specification, measure performance against key indicators ,advise the provider with performance improvement, and provide quarterly reporting information to NewCo
  • Contribute to lessons learned from the 2 year pilot project and the evaluation of the project by UCLAN
  • Positive communication and promotion of the new service with diocesan communications leads across the dioceses and cathedrals during the roll out phase.

  • Able to manage own workload effectively
  • Able to engage people in the process of contract compliance in a constructive and positive way
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Able to use IT to produce reports and present information
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of organisations and individuals
  • Able to evaluate evidence, analyse and interpret information and resolve issues
  • Able to mediate when required


  • Knowledge of wider statutory and voluntary organisations and partnerships in respect of safeguarding adults and children
  • Knowledge of best practice guidance in respect of safeguarding legislation across England and Wales
  • Experience as a professionally qualified safeguarding advisor
  • Knowledge and experience of working with victims and survivors of abuse
  • Knowledge and experience of contract monitoring and compliance
  • Experience of managing significant change or transformation
  • Experience of leading safeguarding services / service development

  • Appropriate degree, professional qualification and relevant experience in a social care, health, police, probation setting in respect of safeguarding adults and children.
  • Leadership experience and ability
