St Michael's East Ardsley, is a parish of approximately 2950 households with a population of 6600. East Ardsley sits to the south of Leeds and north west of Wakefield and is in the middle of the commuter belt.
The Bishop of Kirkstall, Rt Revd Paul Slater, seeks to appoint a full time interim priest for three years, in the first instance to work with the PCC and congregation of St Michael's to develop lay ministry and mission in the church and across the parish. St Michael's has capacity to grow and develop and there is scope for a local lay leadership team.
The intention is to make an appointment of a full time interim priest, who, it is envisaged, will live in the current benefice property adjacent to St Michael's Church.
In time, we expect a part-time priest to be appointed who will work with this lay leadership team and provide priestly oversight.
