Liverpool Cathedral is situated at the heart of a cosmopolitan city, adjacent to some of both the most affluent and deprived economic communities.  The Cathedrals primary task is to support the missions and ministry of the Bishop and the Diocese of Liverpool.

The Music department are currently recruiting for Lay Clerks to join its outstanding musical tradition.

There is ample opportunity for teaching and business posts within the City of Liverpool which would enable applicants moving into the area to become full and active members of the Cathedral Choir.  North Wales and the Lake District are easily accessible from Merseyside, and the city itself offers a wide variety of good educational and musical facilities.

This position is eligible for an enhanced DBS check and the successful applicant must be prepared to undergo regular safeguarding training.

Auditions will take place on Monday 7th October in the evening.

Lay Clerks are to be present at six of the seven principal services each week, and at such rehearsals as are laid down in the timetable below. The only deviation is on Saints days and other Holy days of obligation where the commitment will be stated clearly on the advance diary.

They may also be required at any additional rehearsal which might be considered necessary, and again given in advance on the diary.

All Lay Clerks must familiarise themselves with solos or new music in advance of rehearsal.  A punctual start is expected at rehearsals and it is desirable that Lay-Clerks should be present at least fifteen minutes before the service time.
