Our new priest should be a Christian leader able to bring out the best in people and empower them for mission and ministry.

We would welcome a priest who is:

The congregation are seeking a priest who can help them:

  • To develop the mission and role of this important church within its community, building on previous work done
  • To nurture and grow the worship and musical tradition of the church, taking into account the complimentary strengths of its differing congregations whilst retaining a sense of one parish family
  • To strengthen links with the business community and University and with the civic leaders in Huddersfield
  • To minister confidently and empathetically to a wide range of people in the congregations and beyond
  • To offer a suitable context for training people for lay and ordained ministries within the church.

Our new vicar will be, sociable, dynamic, approachable, flexible, empathetic, with a good sense of humour.

He/ she will have the ability to:

  • Grow the strength of one or more congregations
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues lay and ordained
  • Develop and encourage further the gifts and skills of the congregation for ministry
  • Strengthen links with the local community and civic leaders
  • Grow a vision for the future of the church within Huddersfield

The benefice Huddersfield Parish is at the centre of the Huddersfield Episcopal Area, in the Archdeaconry of Halifax. The Bishop of Huddersfield is The Rt. Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs and the Archdeacon of Halifax is The Venerable Dr Anne Dawtry.
