Vicar of Bilton in Holderness and Sutton in Holderness

Here are two churches who have fairly recently come together with the riches of their two different stories and traditions

We are looking for a priest to come and join us on the eastern edges of Hull. We are seeking someone who will renew our vision and open our eyes to new ways to reach out to our communities and see God’s Kingdom flourish.

We come from different traditions and are looking for someone who will enjoy ministering with such variety and will encourage us to grow in our love of God.

The Deanery of Hull is extensive, and these two churches have plenty of challenge and really good colleagues, lay and ordained. Together we have the chance to make a difference in good company.

  • To work with the PCCs to formulate a vision for the parishes and to give a lead with regard to its implementation.
  • To lead the churches in outreach and evangelism, especially developing the existing links with the local communities.
  • To develop the shared life of the parishes, identifying ways in which the parishes can work together.
  • To encourage, develop and release gifts amongst the laity.
  • To deepen discipleship through effective teaching and preaching
  • To value the two different liturgical traditions, deepening the congregations’ experience of worship
  • To participate within the life of the Hull Deanery.

We are seeking a prayerful and servant hearted priest who will

• Naturally reach out to those beyond our church families

• Encourage, develop and release our gifts

• Communicate effectively and be an able Bible teacher

• Value worship in differing liturgical styles

We seek to have realistic expectations of our priest. Both churches are committed to lay ministry and will support you in your ministry here. Come and join us!

Unfortunately it is not always straightforward for clergy from overseas to be appointed to posts in the Church of England. The policy of the UK Border Agency is that normally the organisation making an appointment has been able to prove that it is impossible to appoint a person who is a national of a European Economic Area country, before a visa giving permission to work will be issued to a person who comes from elsewhere.

This appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS Check.
