We are seeking three growth enablers to lead the work of vision and growth across the diocese, with special attention to one of the three archdeaconries.

  • Implement a toolkit for helping churches establish a vision for spiritual and numerical growth
  • Recruit and lead a voluntary enabling team to offer support to parishes in pursuit of their plans
  • Share good practice and foster links where parishes are operating with a healthy vision and sustained growth
  • Work closely with the Archdeacon and Archdeaconry Steering Group to deliver and review plans
  • Contribute to wider diocesan development by being part of a mission forum chaired by the Bishop of Tonbridge

Candidates must be familiar with the Church of England and its structures, and understand the local church, including strategies for growth. Candidates must be educated, preferably to degree level, and have relevant experience. They must have excellent communication and organisation skills and be able to demonstrate success in planning and managing projects. The role will require candidates to travel throughout the diocese, often in the evenings and at weekends.

Successful candidates should have:

  • Proven experience of helping a local church to grow
  • An innovative approach to developing opportunities and to problem solving
  • The capacity to lead churches through processes of change

The post holder will, at times, be the public face of the Diocese. It is considered there is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) for the postholder to be a communicant member of the Church of England, or of a Church in communion therewith or of a member Church of the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland or of Churches Together in England, or of a member Church of the Evangelical Alliance.
