Rector for the Benefice of Sharnbrook, Felmersham and Knotting with Souldrop

This job has now expired
Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire

We are looking for an outgoing team leader with strategic vision, a person of prayer who loves opportunities to share the Gospel in different ways, and a good family oriented communicator willing to engage with the wider community, who can inspire us in Leading our Benefice.

Our Benefice is a compact and integrated rural Benefice of three active churches within a three mile radius, all sharing the picturesque countryside of the River Ouse valley, in northern Bedfordshire.
We are located in a much sought after catchment area for excellent local schools, and are rich in local amenities, shops, businesses, doctor’s surgery, and a vet, with wide ranging leisure pursuits, sports, social clubs, pubs and restaurants. We have enthusiastic congregations, committed to the need to grow and change.

As you would expect the churches offer a wide variety of worship settings, from Messy Church to Taize, to open air services or Morning Prayer, and have a combined electoral roll of 140.

A greater emphasis is being placed on raising spiritual awareness, on prayer, and being open to change and new innovation; on reaching out to children and young families; and working together as a team. The Benefice seeks someone who can help further this positive development, whilst exploring opportunities for closer engagement with the wider community.

All three churches still in use in the Benefice are Grade 1 listed and in in generally good repair. The parish church in Knotting is now redundant.

Please see the Benefice Profile and Bishop's Statement attached.
